What’s Built Here Matters

Data centers are coming to Louisiana — bringing investment, construction jobs, and tax revenue across the state. Built Here aims to share what that means for Louisiana families and communities.

Louisiana and the Infrastructure Opportunity

Louisiana has become one of the leading states in the country for data center investment. Louisana’s business-friendly climate and competitiveness is putting the state at the forefront of investment and innovation that is reshaping the American economy. The investment is real, the jobs are local, and the public benefits are stacking up.

What this means for Louisiana

Louisiana has attracted more than $81.6 billion in data center investment statewide, with projects announced or underway across multiple parishes in North and Central Louisiana, regions that have historically seen less large-scale economic development. (Louisiana Economic Development)

At peak construction, data center projects in Louisiana are expected to employ more than 11,750 construction workers — electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters, and the full range of skilled trades (Louisiana Economic Development)

More than 2,025 direct new jobs are projected from data center operations statewide, with an additional 4,098 indirect jobs created through supply chain and service sector activity (Louisiana Economic Development)

Louisiana's bipartisan Act 730 (2024) created a structured framework for data center investment — setting minimum investment thresholds and accountability requirements to ensure communities benefit from the growth (Louisiana State Legislature, Act No. 730 (HB 827), 2024 Regular Session)
